Asking for an opening bid from the crowd, Mr Fraser-Smith noted the “mandatory minute of silence”. Mr Fraser-Smith broke the suspense by offering a vendor bid of $2,400,000. Asking for rises of $25,000, Mr Fraser-Smith received a chilly reception to match the chilly weather. After conferring with the vendors, Mr Fraser-Smith made a final vendor bid of $2,500,000. No budging from the crowd meant that the property soon passed in at $2,500,000.
