The crowd of about 60 people were enjoying the sunshine and even a game of kick to kick in Moorhouse Street today. Justin Long, our auctioneer, enthusiastically outlined the merits of the home and the suburb of Armadale before opening with a vendor bid of $2,750,000. Bidder 1 matched the vendor bid and Mr Long asked for bids of $25,000. Determined to reach the selling price, Mr Long rejected Bidder 2’s bid of $10,000 and encouraged the bidders to stay at $25,000. With some reluctance, Bidder 2 added $25,000 and we were off and racing. Albeit a slow race. At $ 2,825,000, with Bidder 1 faltering, Mr Long started to accept smaller bids. Bidder 1 was considered and cautious with each bid while Bidder 2 responded swiftly. At $2,900,000 a third bidder, on the phone, joined in. At $3,000,000 the property was on the market. The bidding now bounced between Bidders 2 and 3, with Bidder 1 adding one last $5000 bid into the mix. The property was bought under the hammer by Bidder 2 for $3,065,000.
