This afternoon auction took place inside, overlooking the lush, green and inviting backyard. Auctioneer Andrew Hayne was cracking jokes left, right and centre, ensuring that the smaller crowd was comfortable and ready to participate. Mr Hayne called for opening bids but received a quiet response, which only served to highlight the calm environment of which the property was apart. As such, Mr Hayne offered a vendor bid of $2,500,000. All was quiet. That was until the first of three bidders perked up. Suddenly, the auction was up and racing. Small increases were being made - between $5,000 and $10,000. Slow but steady, Mr Hayne had a half-time break at $2,650,000. He returned with the all-important news that the property was on the market. Only two more bids were made and things came to a grinding halt. Mr Hayne happily clapped his hands and the property was bought at $2,660,000.
