A quiet street and a quiet auction. Auctioneer John Chartres opened with a vendor bid of $1,700,000. After a long pause Bidder 1 offered an additional $10,000. With no further bids, Mr Chartres took a quick break to go inside and returned to make a second vendor bid of $1,750,000. This, Mr Chartres assured us, would be the final vendor bid. Bidder 1 again put forward a $10,000 bid. The property was passed in to Bidder 1 for $1,760,000. It was bought later during negotiations for an undisclosed price.
