5 Collingwood Street, SANDRINGHAM

BOUGHT* - $2,216,000
The sun peeked out and the clouds cleared as Auctioneer Mark Earle stepped in front of 5 Collingwood Street. Apparently the home was last bought in 1938 for 900 pounds and Mr Earle suggested it had appreciated considerably since then. Wasting no time, Bidder 1 offered an opening bid of $1,950,000. After some pause, and further encouragement from Mr Earle, Bidder 2 took it to $2,000,000. Bidders 3 and the 4 joined quickly and the price climbed in increments of $5000 and $10,000. Bidders 1 and 2 pulled out early, leaving Bidders 3 and 4 in the race. At $2,200,000 Mr Earle declared the property was on the market. At this point Bidder 3, looked pale and paused. Mr Earle enthused, “don’t stop now, this is the real action.” Momentarily bolstered, Bidder 3 made two further bids of $5000, before pulling out. A happy looking Bidder 4 purchased the property with a final $1000 bid, securing the home for $2,216,000.
