Keen to get things going auctioneer Justin Long opened with a vendor bid of $3,800,000. The quiet crowd milled about and after a long pause Bidder 1 offered a bid of $5000. Mr Long laughed and suggested $50,000 would be more acceptable. Bidder 1 raised the bid to $25,000. Initially it seemed that getting bids would be like extracting teeth, but eventually Bidder 2 raised their hand and was quickly followed by Bidder 3. In increments of $25,000 the price climbed quickly to $4,200,000. At this point Bidders 2 and 3 were now out and Bidder 4 had joined in. Bidder 1 was unwavering, but keen to know if the property was yet on the market. At $4,325,000 Mr Long took a break to visit the vendors. Upon his return, a smiling Mr Long said that the home was on the market. Bidder 4 seemed to take heed of Mr Long’s advice and made a bid of $4,500,000. Without hesitating, Bidder 1 added $10,000 and sealed the deal. The property was bought by a thrilled Bidder 1 for $4,510,000.
