A huge crowd gathered on both sides of the street today when Marcus Peters stepped out to commence the auction. Within a few moments he would soon find the large crowd converging right in front of him vying for the glory of being the buyer. Bidder 1 got the ball rolling with an opening bid of $1,400,000 and with no further new bidders a vendor bid of $1,500,000 was made. Bidder 1 came straight back in for the requested $25,000 rise and Bidder 2 who was standing only metres away also rose by $25,000, followed by Bidder 3. In a matter of seconds we had passed $1,600,000 and there were four Bidders in it. At $1,675,000 an agent advised we had reached reserve, but the auction didn't pause. This was the catalyst for Bidders 5, 6 and 7 to all get going with the earlier ones fading into the crowd and soon we were watching a tennis match of bids bounce back and forth between them all. There was no time to think so one bidder took a breath and tried to slow down the pace, but the competition was fierce. Strong quick bids were the key and soon it was all over with a professional bidder holding on to be the buyer.
