4 Second Avenue was a late affair as two fierce bidders got the show running at the very end. The property had earlier looked to be heading towards a pass in as auctioneer Peter Vigano battered down an opening bid of $1,800,000 with a vendor bid of $1,850,000. Mr Vigano briefly headed inside. Upon return, a second party joined the fray, forcing the initial bidder to turn his game face on. The price was slowly creeping up in increments of $10,000 or thereabouts with the tennis slowing down after Mr Vigano had announced the property was on market at $2,165,000. Only a handful of bids followed, as one party got cold feet and the hammer fell and the property sold for $2,200,000.
