It was a chilly morning in Hawthorn East and whether this was the reason for somewhat timid bidding remains to be seen, but auctioneer James Tostevin toiled without getting the result he necessarily wanted under hammer, with two determined bidders setting the tone after a quickfire opening bid of $2,750,000 was quickly beaten to the tune of a $25,000 rise. Back and forth the two parties went before Mr Tostevin eventually passed the property in at the $2,925,000 mark. However - the vendors kicked a goal after the siren with the home bought after auction for $3,021,000.
