As the auction progressed, so did the size of the crowd full of eager onlookers and a fair share of bidders. Auctioneer Justin Long brought out his booming voice in order to reach the far corners of the audience. Opening with a vendor bid of $4,800,000, Mr Long asked for advances of $25,000 to be made. The bidders trickled in, with a total of four parties throwing in their two cents (plus a few extra thousand). Things were looking uncertain when Mr Long had a half-time break, but after another round of bidding on his return, the property’s reserve was achieved at $5,190,000. It did not stop there, as additional bids came from 3 primary bidders. Tricky bids of $1,500 and $7,500 meant that Mr Long attempted to avoid becoming tongue-tied as well as challenging the mental addition skills. Eventually, the two bidders remaining slowed their respective trains and the property was finally bought at $5,406,000.
